This is a cute YA book about confidence and living boldly in the skin you're in. The blurb on the back is honestly not really what the book is about - this is a story of a heavy girl learning to step out of her shell and living life without fear, doing the things she's meant to do (in this case, showing the struggles and joys of life via photographs and writing). The romance is not the focus, even though the blurb pretends it is. We don't learn much about Mason, and he serves more as a plot device than a main character. He has strong potential to be a great male lead, but he's not given much time to do shine. In terms of cleanliness, a few words like "sexy" or "damn" slip through, and (if memory serves), her family embarrasses her by mentioning "the talk", etc. So, this could be an inspirational book for teens, especially those who are bullied for their weight, but know that the romance is not the main deal.
I finished this book and immediately said to my husband, "This was such a sweet book. I love books that leave me with "warm fuzzies, and this one did." I easily identified with Dani as I was also bullied because of my weight in school. I would have loved having a Truly and a Mason on my side as support back then. There's a lot of love, compassion, loyalty, wisdom, and inspiration found in this book from Dani and her friends. Thank you, K. E. Dani was invisible to most she was a big girl and was bully a lot until Mason stepped in and notice her and the started going places that she never went before.can they over come all the bully’s read a d see for yourself. Good read and funny in parts.
